Iloilo Golfers. How do we see ourselves…?

Ever took notice of our IGCCI Vision/Mission statement? That is a product of a deliberate and communal brainstorming… much better than any individual smarter-than-thou braggadocio! Take it to heart! Give it a chance… and belong! This vision may not be forever anyhow, and it does not have to be! But this, today, is as close to drawing the majority aspirations as any that a formal organization like ours can come up with. One that is responsive to the changes of its time… the majority’s time… Revise it later when the greater aspiration again deems it necessary… in their time… and hopefully still yours!

This is why I admire the Japanese! (Omedetto Gozaimasu! ne…) They make teamwork in organizations seem like second-nature…childplay! I did work with them for a year! Wonderful time! They all belong to something, a school, a factory, a corporation, a baseball team, a town! Something they are passionately a part of… all their lives if possible. It is second nature to them, cultural perhaps… that is why they are a highly effective and a very successful society! A true and a strong nation!

The Americans would say “The squeaky wheel gets the grease!” Complain, raise a howl… until you get noticed… and get what you deserve… The gullible Pinoy adopted this and extended the baroque point down to ridiculous depths pointless, endless acrimony people power for whatever reason seems an exaggeration and a mockery, with individual rights taking precedence over greater societal or institutional welfare… Ultimately, nothing substantial for the greater good ever gets done!

The Japanese on the other hand believes… “The nail that sticks-out, gets the hammer!” Don’t stick out! Don’t get attention to yourself! Otherwise, suffer the painful consequence! Be counted with the whole or the majority… merge with the group… embrace the majority’s will as yours… this is the Asian way. Do otherwise and you’ll probably get ostracized by your tribe… and still get what you deserve! This was probably our way too, and long before Hollywood tweaked our brains into thinking (despite our slit eyes and skin color) that we are from another tribe! He he an oversimplification no doubt or, is it? But, going back to us, to our vision

So, World Class gali kuno ha!... in Iloilo Golf? Oh, sure! Why not? Nga-a man indi haw? Excellent local services, top-of-the-line, high-quality local attractions, delicacies, sites, charm and amiable chutzpah, were always much appreciated Anywhere in the World! Show your appreciation for the things you hold dear your own treasures!! Then and only then will others start to see thru your own eyes! World Class, in other words, is not synonymous with First World or High-Tech and expensive! Toti, I said chutzpah not what you think!
