A bit of golf history. "Did you know that…"
The Honorable Company of Edinburgh, thirty-three miles from St. Andrew’s, was 10 years ahead of the Royal and Ancient in organizing a golf championship, when they originally offered a silver club as champion’s price. That was in 1744. In 1754, St. Andrew’s started its own championship…which eventually overshadowed that of Edinburgh…and this started what everyone now knows as the Open Championships… (then came Tyo Talio! /dokie)
Doctors, but surgeons especially, will be amazed to learn that Ben Hogan (my personal golfing hero) almost died following a car accident… then took a grinding but glorious return to Big Time Golf! He suffered months of hospital treatment for multiple fractures, during which he underwent an operation to “ligate” the vena cava to stave-off blood clots from going to his heart and lungs... and possibly killing him! Then, less than 4 years later with this “re-routed blood circulation”, he accomplished the most amazing golf come-back in history by winning the US National Championships, followed by more! Legends are made of these!
golf come-back? We do this all the time… every Saturday we ‘come back’! Right! Just like smoking… its so easy to stop smoking. It’s Tony and Bebot’s celebratory ritual! Light one up, so just to ‘stop smoking’… 20 times a day, … easy does it! I’ll even drink to that! I’ll even light-one-up for that! Heh?
