National Historical Institute Recognizes Sta. Barbara Golf Course's Historical Value

On July 12, 2005 , Dr. Noel Binayas, Chair of the Heritage Committee IGCCI received a letter from Mr. Ambeth Ocampo, President of the National Historical Institute (NHI) officially recognizing the historical significance of Sta. Barbara Golf Course as the "Oldest Existing Golf Course " in the Philippines . With this confirmation, the Centenary Committee is planning to install a "Historical Marker" in the golf course as part of our Centenary celebration.

Strategic Planning and Workshop

On July 1, 2005 , 31 club members participated in the Strategic Planning and Workshop in which the Mission and Vision and future development plans were formulated. Read the article by Atty. Marven Daquilanea entiltled "98 Years" in our Mission and Vision page.

Society of 1907

The Iloilo Golf and Country Club, Inc. is now included in the Society of 1907 Golf Courses which is composed of golf courses in the U.K. which were established in 1907. So far, the IGCCI is the only non- U.K. member of this society. During the centenary year 2007, any member or group of members from any of the clubs in the society could contact any other club where they would like to play and book a round of golf subject to course availability and sufficient notice being given. The booking would not be subject to a green fee, so in effect, we would all have to courtesy of each others courses in 2007. So if you will be traveling to the U.K. in 2007, you can play in these golf courses for free.
